Wendell Leeling Continues To Lead Ak-Sar-Ben Riders AK-SAR-BEN, Omahaf.Nebr., June 22. — Wendell Leeling, 24-year-old free lance rider from Harrison, Nebr., continues to lead the jockey pack as the Ak-Sar-Ben track goes into the last two weeks of its current meeting. Leeling took over the lead on May 28th and has held it ever since. His record is 22 wins, 12 seconds and 14 thirds. Under Ak-Sar-Bens point-award system, which credits riders with six points for a win, two for a second and one for a third, Leeling has a commanding lead with a total of 170 points. Tied for second are Charles lies, Cool-idge, Ariz., and Fritz Becker of Omaha, each with 118 points. Victor Bovine, Phoenix, Ariz., veteran, has had 17 winners and is fourth with 115 points. Johnny Bellino of Walsenburg, Colo., leading jockey at Ak-Sar-Ben last year, is fifth with 109 points. Completing the top 10 riders are apprentice Celestino Dominguez, 104; Ernest Mower, 100; Richard Moore, 85; Duane Sterling, 72 and Eugene Curry, 65. On July 5th, final day of the meeting, the leading rider will be awarded Ak-Sar-Bens itradi,tipnal gold trophy cup.
