Luro at Arlington With 14 Performers Second Half of String Due Later This Week; Iceberg I!., Two Foreign-Breds Arrivals ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, 111., June 22.ā€” A fourteen-horse string under the care of trainer Horatio Luro arrived at Arlington Park today to prepare for Thursdays opening-day program. The unit includes several prominent stake nominees, some of. which are foreign-breds. A second half of the Luro stable will ship in later this week from Belmont Park. The stakes star among todays arrivals is the Chilean-bred Iceberg nā€ž owned by W. Arnold Hanger of Miami, Fla. The big six-year-old son of. Espadin ā€” Bellagamba was voted champion grass horse of 1953. Iceberg n. won the Bougainvillea and United Nations handicaps and placed in six other major stakes last year. Hanger has named the foreign star for the 5,000-added Stars and Stripes Handicap on the grass, July 5. Last years records show the horse earned 6,725. Stars and Stripes Nominees Besides Iceberg XL, two other foreign-breds among the arrivals are Stars and Stripes nominees. They are Charles Wacker, rn.s Eugene II. and Mrs. Frances de Luros Turgueneff. All three are also eligible for the 60,000 Arlington Handicap. Other stake nominees ni the Luro string are the filly Royal Hostess, being pointed for the 5,000 Pollyanna Stakes, and Nest Ce Pas, who will compete in the 5,000-added Cleopatra Stakes. Royal Hostess, two-year-old filly by the imported Alibhai ā€” Boudoir II., is owned by New Yorker Herman B. Delman. Besides the five and one-half furlong Pollyanna, Royal Hostess is also eligible to the 05,-000 Arlington Lassie . The three-year-old filly Nest Ce Pas belongs to Mrs. Delman and is a probable candidate for other distaff features to be decided during the 35-day Arlington session. i
