Bond Pair Score By PALMER IIEAGERT1" LAUREL, Md., April 30. — Howard Grant, who has turned the Laurel jockey race into a complete rout, gained his thirdsuccess of the afternoon and his thirty-eighth of the meeting when he drove Harold H. Polks Lindas Dream to victory in the feaured Weights and Measures Purse. The six-year-old Wait A Bit mare charged from off the pace to complete 6 furlongs in 1:12% over a good track. In second position, a length and a half behind the winner came Lawrence W. Jones Nayantara, who was almost a length before John A. Manfusos Clear Sailing. A crowd of 10.-384 which turned out under clear skies, sent Lindas Dream postward a .60 favorite. Clear Sailing, who chased Lindas Dream to the wire in their last meeting, developed into a speed filly this afternoon to be responsible for the pace. She held a slight advantage over Nayantara well into the stretch, at which time Lindas Dream, after having been well back early, loomed from the outside and drove to the score. Nayantara outgamed Clear Sailing for the ■place award, as Watscn Elliotts Evelyn. Miss rallied to finish fourth. Woodlands Wins Season Debut Grants earlier winners were consecutively stride Abe Wolfs Woodlands and Mrs. Bernard P. Bonds Jimmies Busy in the fourth and fifth races. Wooodlands, making his first start of the year, returned 0.80 after getting 6 panels in 1:12%. Jimmies Busy was a .40 favorite and was reaching the winners circle for the fifth time in 11 starts this season. Mrs. Bond and her husband, trainer Ber-nie Bond, also were completing doubles with the victory of Jimmies Busy. Their previous winner was Big Mom, a first-time starter in the third race. The two-year-old daughter of Errard finished 5 furlongs in 1:01% and prevailed by two lengths despite racing in a green manner. Big Mom was coupled jvith George A. Garretts Bonzo, the team going postward as .20 favorites. Ted McComseys Skeptical Kid upset the form players when he easily defeated William H. Bishops 7-to-10 favorite, Ambio-run, by two and one-half lengths in the sixth race. Skeptical Kid, claimed for ,000 earlier in the Maryland season, led throughout and finished the 6 furlongs under George Hettinger in 1:12%. The "winner re- turned 2.40. Third in this dash was James W. Fletchers Deadly Actor. EdwardS. Voss Jr.s Dark Buster, making his first start of the year, and Jack Gunns Warrantor, a recent .arrival from Florida, took care of the.first two races for a 29.20 Daily Double return. Dark Buster paid 7.80 straight, while Warrantor returned 2.40 for the usual .00 wager.
