Cray, Atche-ison, Kan., owner, were flaunted to victories here this beautiful afternoon in the first and second races when his Lender, a gelded son of .Maeda, ridden by John Soto, won the 6Y2 furlongs opener in ,clever fashion and the consistent mare Kitchen Betty scored in a driving finish to garner the second event, a 5 furlongs dash under the-handling of Francisco Saumell. The victories placed. Cray in front of owners campaigning here ,and also increased the winners of trainer Herb Jolley to eight* topping the conditioners by three wins. Lender, who" was overlooked in the wagering, came from behind to score a three and one-half lengths victory in the opening number, defeating Triple-Crown, Lost Time and five others, while Kitchen Betty, who broke from the extreme outside In the second, took command going down the backstretch and after disposing of Forsaken had to stand a long drive to stall off the fast closing Bob-Ed. Forsaken was a faltering third. Lender pal:" 4.40 while Kitchen Betty returned .40. Fans in the estimated crowd of 2,500 who supported the Cray pair in the Daily Double received 2.80. Saumell also scored a double victory when he handled Lenny Gale, the odds-on favorite in the third, another 5 furlongs dash. The Blue Flyer gelding made each post a winning one. scoring by three * lengths. Budworth was second and Eternal Boy saved1 tliandshow.slienny Gale paid .80.
