LEXINGTON DERBY GALLOPS LEXINGTON, Ky.. April 30— The muddy track that prevailed this morning, served to greatly cur* activity among the Kentucky Derby candidates in training here. The Idle Hour Farm Stables Birley M. C. displayed good mud-running qualities when he stepi ed three-quarters handily in 1 ilTVs, traversing the first quarter in :25 and the half mile in :50%. General Haldeman was sent to the track by trainer J. Stevens for an easy mile, and the colt responded by galloping the distance in 1 :49%. He was breezing easily all the way and looked and acted better than in some time. He reeled off the first quarter in :25, half in :50%. and three-quarters in 1 :21. Comrade, from the Shoestring Stable worked five-eighths in 1 :0T breezing, and Nedda galloped a mile in 1 :48%. This latter Derby and Oaks candidate is owned bv G. Collins.
