iiir/ii7* tt iTiPinnco* oimr iP/iiir/viT/ At Aurora One Best Bet — GONDOLIER — In the Sixth Race. Mondays offering at the Exposition Park Jockey Clubs course is a typical off-day card, each of the seven events being given over to platers of the ordinary variety, while two of the numbers call for maidens to make the issue. The first of these is to be run as the opener and will see the three-year-olds in action, while the second calls for two-year-olds, over the four and a half furlongs distance. All indications paint to a track other than fast for todays races, the rains of Thursday night and Friday morning spoiling any chances for a firm racing strip. The sunshine of Saturday helped considerably and, with no more moisture before the bugle sounds for the first race today, there is a possibility of a slow track, but not much likelihood for a fast strip. Three distance events are down for decision, the fifth, sixth and seventh numbers being at a mile and seventy yards. Good size fields are expected to go to the post lr. the majority of the events, trainers entering their charges with a view to a better track for todays racing. DAVE HUEN-PETER L.— PAT FIELD. The maidens competing in the opening dash are just about as cheap a band as could be found and picking the winner here is no easy matter. One is about as good as another and mest any one is likely to romp home the winner. DAVE HURN is given the call because of some recent good workouts and for no other reason. PETER L. showed fairly well in his last race here in a field of much better opponents and he would not surprise by winning. PAT FIELD is making the first start of the year and, if he has retained the form he showed last Fall, may land among the first three. This fs strictly an open race. CLEM LEWIS-JIM BRIDGER— PERFECT MODEL. CLEM LEWIS showed well in her only start here when she took down third money in the race won by Miss Drapeau and she would need to improve but little over that performance to score in this event. JIM BRIDGER, from the Nevada Stock Farm Stable, is evidently better than rated and would only have to repeat his last effort to again land the place money. PERFECT MODEL figures to hold the others safe for the short end of the purse. LADY ONEIL appears to be much the best of the others. BABBLING— DIAGRAM— LEVOY. The going should be all to the liking of BABBLING in the third event and, if she shows any improvement over her last race, may be the one to come home in front. She is partial to a soft track and would only have to race in her best form to cop. DIAGRAM is far from being the performer he was a few years back, but still has a few winning races in his system. He managed to land a couple of purses at Havana last winter and, if he displayed the same form here, would be sure to land in the money. LEVOY is not far from a winning trip and may turn the trick here. EAGER is not to be ignored. FLOY L1LLIE prefers a longer distance. JESSIE BELLE— ENGADINE: — SUT SFS. JESSIE BELLE is capable of much better things than she showed in her initial start and believe she should be given another chance to make good today. She is fast when in the mood and it may be that she did not like the going in that last race of hers. With an improved track for todays racing, look for her to show to much better advantage. ENGADINE is not possessed of the class that JESSIE BELLE has, but must be given consideration on her last race, when she took the place behind Beauty Star. SUT SUS is due for a good performance and may be able to take down the show money in this field. TORMENTOR looms as a probable trouble maker. SEA GREEN— POMPOUS— BAD LUCK. The fifth number should see SEA GREEN landing in front if her last race can be taken as a true line on her present form. She raced close to the leaders throughout in that performance and would have to improve but slightly to cop here. POMPOUS can do much better than his last start indicated and, taking a line through his two previous races, is liable to p-ove a real danger. BAD LUCK is consistent to say the least, even though he does not win but once in about fifteen or twenty starts. He is usually in the payoff at the finish and today should be no exception. PROCEEDS rates an outside chance. GONDOLIER— MART BUNCH-GAY BOY II. Gondolier stacks up as the best play on the card in the sixth event. He was more or less consistent at Jefferson Park and put up a good effort in his first start here. He no doubt needed that race for a tightener and should show to much better advantage today. MART BUNCH figures second best, but does not seem capable of defeating GONDOLIER. However, he should take down the place money. GAY BOY II. should hold the others safe for the show end of the purse. FEHRAH seems to be improving and may go well today. MARVELITE— FAIRLIGHT GREAT NORTHERN. The distance today is more to the liking of MARVELITE and believe he will give a much better account of himself in this race. His last start was in a three-quarter dash and, while he failed to share in the money, it was a fair effort and he seemed as though he could have gone much farther. FAIRLIGHT would prove troublesome if he repeated his last race. GREAT NORTHERN is about due for improvement and may show to better advantage today. BLACK MASK may prove dangerous. CAPTAIN ADAMS is liable to prove a repeater.
