DEATH OF NOTABLE MAKE LONDON, England. April 3d.— The recent death of Blue Tit removes another name from the list of famous mares of the present day. Bred in 1908 by Mr. I,udvig Neumann. Blue Tit came from a line of winner-producing mares, as her dam. Petit Bleu, threw that useful horse. Oiseau Blue, as well as Depeche, who was second in the Oaks to Jest, Barbed Wire, St. Patricks Blue, Blue Pete, and others, while her second dam. Letter-ewe, though a shy breeder, gave rise to Love Letter, the leading two-year-old in Austria in 1906. Letterewe was by Carcaldine out of Royal Letter, a mare who was the third dam of Earla Mor, and was out of Algerie, a French-bred mare by The Flying Dutchman out of LAventuriere. Blue Tit was of no account upon the racecourse. She was sold as a three-year-old for ,500, and eventually went to Sledmere in 1912, where she bred Miss Crits, Bagarra. Wigstone, Teresina, Blue Ruin, Double Blue, and Blue Flame. Most of these were "sold as yearlings at Doncaster, and raised upwards of 50,000, the top price being the 2,500 which Lord] Olanely paid for Blue Knsign. Their winnings to date amount to 00,170.
