1 ARLINGTON DOWNS NOTES z 0 Phil Reuter, trainer of the Elwood Sachsenmaier stable stated that Plight, 1934 Texas Derby winner is training nicely, but he does not hope to have him under colors until the Washington Park meeting. T. J. DeBord sold the maiden Rose Hazen to A. E. Hutchinson, Texas patron. DeBord will continue to train the filly. The first race for horses, the property of bona fide residents of Texas, is scheduled for Thursday. It is a sprint for platers over the Waggoner course. Charles F. Henry, who will serve as presiding steward and racing secretary at Alamo Downs, announced that jockey fees for that meeting would be 5 for a winning mount and 0 for the others. Henry states that he has many applications for stabling accommodations for the twenty-one days season which commences April 25. Major Gomez, a good winner under the E. E. Major colors, which was turned out last year, has been returned to training. He arrived from the Major farm Tuesday. Apprentice K. Knott accepted his first mount of the meeting on White Legs in the eighth race Wednesday. Johnny Reatle was assigned quarters for the plater Tarbucket, which unloaded here Wednesday. Baby Sweep and Wild Reigh, which" are the property of J. Zitnik, arrived from Hou ston. Robert McGarvey, trainer of Mrs. P C Mars Milky Way Farms Stable stated this morning that he was shipping to Churchill Downs immediately after the running of-the Texas Derby. Several horses now in training at the Pulaski, Tenn., farm will be shipped direct to the Louisville course and McGarvey intends sending several that he has here to the farm for a short rest. C. Hyde Smith, trainer of the Odessa Farm Stable has engaged Hilton Dabson to ride Eddie J. in the renewal of the Texas Derby. L. H. Neal arrived from Hot Springs with Alamae, Val J. and Miss Sergeant which are the property of Mrs. W. M. Cain. Lonell and Ruth Jelinek, the former property of W. M. Gibson are here in charge of J. P. McGpvern. The pair came from Houston. Johnny Pons unloaded the R. L. James horses at Fair Park and will van them here to fill their engagements at Arlington Downs. Carbon heads the stable which includes Burning Feet, Clothtop, Winning Mary and Skibo. First General and Masked Duchess, which race under his silks arrived Wednesday in charge of trainer Joe Leider. B. F. Stutts has returned I. T. Houstons Pale Princess to training. She was turned out last fall. Harry Howard purchased the plater More-soris, from the Lone Star Stable and Scotch Tom from Jake Freedman. Howard has the pair and Winged Wind at Fair Park.
