Won. easily ; second and third driving. GERARD, off well, followed the pace of GOLD CLASP closely to the stretch, then went to the front and drew out easily near the end. GOLD CLASP opened up a good lead while setting the pace and held on fairly well after being headed by the winner. IKARD showed improvement and was racing gamely at the end. BATTLING KNIGHT was in close quarters early when racing on the inside and dropped back, but came again in the stretch. CAREFUL KITTY was in close quarters on the far turn. TASSAJARA was badly outrun. CAMINO REAL followed JAZZ BAND closely to the far turn, then went to the front and, saving, ground on the stretch turn opened up a long load and won easily. THE BAILIFF was outrun early, but came very fast through the stretch and was gaining. GENE D. raced wide in the stretch and finished well in the middle of the track. HOME LOAN was unable to keep up, but closed some ground. CUYAMACA, in close quarters after the start, was used up reaching a contending position and tired after going wide on the stretch turn. EASTER TOMMY went to the front at once and setting the pace under restraint drew out slightly when ready, then stood a hard, hand ride in the last eighth to hold LIGHT BROOK. The latter, never far away, cut to the inside of the winner at midstrctch and finished well nc-xt to the rail, but could not get up. BEHEMOTH was always close up and was racing well at midstretch when he met with interference from LIGHT BROOK and was forced to take back. DEER FLY could never get to the leaders. HIGH MAN was in close quarters in the run down the back stretch. MARITION ran away a quarter before the start. WATONGA was never a serious factor. ATHOL made the pace under slight restraint, but weakened in the final drive. DURANGO was always within striking distance and made up ground in the stretch to finish fastest of all.
