CHERRY STONE, away fast, drew clear rounding the turn under pressure and held her opposition safe thereafter, winning as she pleased. DISTRACT, going forwardly throughout, held on gamely under punishment through the stretch to outlast GALLA in the final drive. GALLA, prominent and on the inside in the deepest going, closed with good courage, but was unable to better her position. SOMEONE ELSE, away slowly and compelled to race wide the entire trip, closed a big gap in the final quarter mile. SMEAR, away forwardly, followed the leaders under slight restraint until the stretch turn, took command with a rush and opened up a winning lead, but then faltered through the stretch and was under extreme pressure to stave off VENETIANS bid. VENETIAN, away slowly, gradually bettered his position in the final three-eighths on the outside and finished going strongest of all. AXENTEA, hard urged and saving ground all the way, held on gamely and outstayed HIDDEN -LORE in the stretch drive. The latter broke tardily, raced far out of contention in the early stages, but then closed a big gap when straightened into the stretch. SKY HAVEN bolted towards the outside when the start came, but was quickly straightened out and moving up rapidly on the outside after leaving the back stretch assumed command in the stretch, but then faltered from his early effort and just lasted. FERVID, away well and steadied off the early pace, came to the outside of the leaders entering the stretch and, closing gamely under punishment, would have won in a few more strides. CAPT. JERRY, prominent the entire trip, saved ground entering the stretch, but then faltered in the final eighth mile under punishment. ACCOLADE displayed speed in the early running and held on stoutly in the stretch run. JILTED retired in the last quarter mile. CITY SLICKER, quickest, to begin, displayed keen speed, and drew out into a commanding lead in the opening half mile and maintained his advantage thereafter under mild pressure. COLD "SHOULDER broke slowly and was far back in the early stages, came to the outside of the leaders in the last quarter mile and, closing rapidly, disposed of SULA in the stretch run. SULA, well up the entire trip, made a game bid on the stretch turn, but was not equal to the leaders in the stretch run. ROYAL COMMAND, strongly urged all the way, was unable to better his position. ACAUTAW, slightly restrained and racing on the outside of the leaders in the early stages, responded with determination when straightened out into the stretch, swerved slightly to the inside, was quickly straightened out and outlasted CANDESCENT when the final test came. CANDESCENT, hustled to the front in the early stages, raced BOOCORD into submission and saved ground entering the stretch, but was unable to withstand the winners bid when it came to a drive. MANAGER BILL, rated off the pace until entering the stretch, tried to steal through on the inside but was blocked approaching the eighth post, was taken to the outside in the stretch, and closed going strongest of all. HAPPY EASTER was repeatedly blocked endeavoring to slip through on the inside in the opening three-eighths. CALGARY KAY, lightly restrained in the early stages, gradually improved his position on the outside in the final half mile and, closing strongly under vigorous pressure, outlasted BIRD LORE in the final drive. BIRD LORE, steadied off the pace until the stretch turn, moved up stoutly when called upon, and raced SUN CLOISTER into defeat. SUN CLOISTER displayed the most speed and saved ground entering the stretch, made a game effort when challenged, but weakened under punishment. CANIMAR slipped through on the inside for the entire trip, but never threatened the leaders. FAIR BILLY had no excuses. STEP AWAY tired after going three-quarters. Overweight Canimar, 1 pound.
