ARLINGTON STAKES CLOSING Midnight Saturday Deadline for Nominations to Classic and Other Rich Fixtures. With the closing time for nominations to the Arlington Park stakes set for tonight at midnight, entries from the prominent stables throughout the country are being received in large numbers, racing secretary Charles McLennan reports, and when the deadline is reached he believes every outstanding thoroughbred will be eligible to one .or more of the important features on tthe Arlington program. Latest of the important nominations to be received, McLennan said, was that of Rosemont, conqueror of the mighty Omaha in the Withers Stakes last Saturday in the fastest mile of the season, for the 0,000 added Classic Stakes. Omaha was a previous nominee. The entry of the three-year-ibld son of The Porter and Garden Rose was sent in by William DuPont, Jr., owner of the Foxcatcher Farms, under whose banner Rosemont races. Plat Eye and Gillie, the two speedy three-year-olds in the Greentree Stable of Mrs. Payne Whitney, also are late nominations to the Classic. Plat Eye also was entered in the 0,000 added Stars and Stripes Handicap, which is at a mile and one furlong, and Gillie was added to the roster of the 0,000 added Arlington Handicap, which, like the Classic, is over the mile and a quarter distance. For the Hyde Park Stakes, a dash of five and one-half furlongs for two-year-olds with a ,000 purse added, the Greentree Stable sent in the names of its half-dozen best juvenile- prospects, including the well-known Galsac. Preston M. Burch, who trains Firethorn for Walter M. Jeffords, has nominated that colt for the Classic. Firethorn ran second to Omaha in the Preakness and was victorious in the Walden Handicap last fall.
