HAGGERSON had to be hustled along to keep up, was blocked by the leader at the eighth post, was guided to the inside and gained slowly under strong punishment. MAGENTA followed the leader under mild restraint, moved up slightly on the outside when called upon, but tired slightly. BETON raced evenly throughout. JENS SON forced the pace from the beginning under steady restraint, but could not respond to urging. GLITTERING was taken back at the far turn when caught in close quarters and came again slowly in the stretch. JOVIUS, slow to hit his stride, made up some ground near the end.
