LATONIAS POPULARITY Attested to by Largest Week-Day Attendance of Present Meeting. Arabs Arrow Scores in Hollow Fashion Camp Cooks Excellent Performance. LATONIA, Ky., June 3. Juveniles held the most prominent positions on the midweek program at the old Milldale course this afternoon, which was attended by the largest week-day gathering since the inauguration of the meeting, despite the fact that there was a threat of rain. The fourth and sixth races were given out to two-year-olds, the Westwood, fourth on the card, and the Buck Run, occupying sixth position, were exclusively for colts and geldings. Though the performers in each instance were maidens, some have been regarded as promising future racing material. Miss Louise J. Hickman of Louisville, Ky., furnished the winner of the first of the two events for youngsters in Arabs Arrow, which scored in hollow fashion.- The brown colt held a margin of six lengths over Rhiniz at the finish, while Tobacco Buyer held on for third money. Favored in the betting to the extent of being odds-on, Arabs Arrow never caused his supporters the slightest anxiety, as he raced in a manner that conclusively proved that he outclassed his opposition. Leaving the starting gate like an arrow from a bow, the brown son of The Porter Continued on thirty-eighth page. LAMIAS POPULARITY Continued from first page. Hedemora opened up a lead of three lengths in the first quarter, and the advantage was increased to five by the time the quarter-mile post was reached. Tobacco Buyer made a bid and reduced the lead slightly during the stretch racing, but Arabs Arrow continued on his way to pull away from Rhiniz after the latter disposed of Tobacco Buyer. Jockey Harry Louman, who was astride the winner, had his charge well in hand during the final stages. S. S. Ganos Judge Barkley, under a strong ride from jockey George South, came from behind to account for the six furlongs dash that opened the days program. Shining Jewel finished second, and Roberta third. Camp Cook, flying the colors of the Sher-brook Farm, became the first triple winner of the Current meeting when he defeated Babeson by a length with Novette in third place. It was an impressive triumph in view of the fact that the seven-year-old gelding packed 120 pounds and came from behind to overhaul Babeson in the closing stages. Novette and Babeson alternated at setting the pace to the last sixteenth, where Camp Cook overtook Babeson. The third brought out nine contestants for a jaunt at a mile and seventy yards, with Stepahead, an outsider in the betting, getting up in. the last few strides to score over Nicks Chuck by a neck. Third went to Cohort Lass. Stepahead followed the pacemaker closest from the break but appeared to be beaten when .Nicks Chuck slipped through on the rail at; the upper turn and got to Cohort Lass. This pair engaged in a duel with Nicks Chuck surviving, but at this point Stepahead came again and under hard riding got up in time. He rewarded his backers with 9.40 for each straight ticket. Mrs. W. Crumps Cherry Time, odds-on favorite in the betting, registered his initial victory in three starts here, withstanding a hard drive gamely to take the measure of Rettef by a half length. Parade Step drew down third money in the six furlongs sprint that brought together a field of eight. Cherry Time was hard hustled by the veteran Leo Canfield to get to the front before the first quarter was completed and remained there but it required the best the five-year-old Flight of Time gelding had in him to accomplish the feat.
