The latter took a slight lead approaching the stretch turn and held on gamely, but was not good enough. NOVETTE broke fast, set the pace for a quarter, saved ground and held on well. CLOVINIA, unable to keep up early, saved ground in the stretch and closed well. WILLIAM V. saved ground all the way and had no excuse. ST. MICA tired badly. ATHANETTE quit. BOBBIE R.. well placed in the early running, held on well, but did not threaten the first two. DRASTIC GOAL set the pace for the first half mile, then tired. ENRO showed nothing.
