I BELMONT PARK NOTES i Lon Johnson was engaged as trainer of the horses owned by Mrs. John Hertz, it was announced Tuesday afternoon. Frank Hack-ett will remain with the stable as manager and agent. Trainer R. A. Smith reported that Delphinium was given a ball and will be freshened up for midsummer racing. A trio of two-year-olds owned by Calumet Farm arrived at Aqueduct and were turned over to Frank Kearns to race. Pompete, Tiftet and a filly from The Beasel comprise the lot. Walter Carter will ship the horses that he raced here to Rockingham Park for that meeting. Apprentice C. Eye will accompany the shipment. H. P. Headley left for Lexington, Ky., but will return here to witness Hollyrood start in the Belmont. The colt will then be shipped to Detroit for the Derby there. Jockey M. Corona was forced to cancel his engagements Wednesday due to an infection of his hand. Ambrose Boles, a brother to George Boles, old-time bookmaker, died at his Greenwich, Conn., home, according to word received here Tuesday. Jockey R. Workman left for Rockingham Park Wednesday to ride C. V. Whitneys Frumpery in a stake engagement at that point.
