DETROIT TURF NOTES i Trainer R. E. Potts of the Bomar Stable announced this morning that Grand Slam would be worked between the second and third races Thursday. Rushaway will also be given a public trial Friday afternoon. Apprentice Charley Parke resumed riding Wednesday after serving a ten-day suspension incurred for rough riding at Aurora. Willie "Smoky" Saunders, contract rider for Hal Price Headley, was in colors for the first time here Wednesday. Gold Band, Bomar Stables eligible for the St. Clair Stakes, breezed a half mile over the muddy track and around the "dogs" Wednesday morning in :55. Old Fondo, hope of Star Buckland, went the same distance in :50. He was accompanied by Eric T. E. E. Watson received Roentgenologist from Ohio, and Lynch and Klyman arrived from Beulah Park with Felawake. George J. Colgin, Dallas owner who has several horses here in charge of J. T. Hughes, arrived from Texas and plans an indefinite visit. Robert Conley, exercise boy in the employ of Mrs. A. M. Creech, who suffered a broken leg several weeks ago. is showing little improvement and it is believed an operation will be necessary before the leg can be set. A. W. McKenna arrived from California with Waft and Airy Heiress. They are the property of A. J. Tansor. R. Emmett Potts, head trainer of the Bomar Stable, will ship Yellow Tulip to Chicago Thursday. Upon his arrival Yellow Tulip will be turned over to John Kermath, who will saddle him for his Hawthorne Juvenile Stakes engagement. Potts will remain here to saddle Billy Bee in the Belle Isle Handicap and Gold Band in the St. Clair Stakes. .
