MISS SCOTT was rushed vigorously to move into command shortly after the start, rallied gamely after being straightened into the stretch and, withstanding a strong drive, outstayed CUP WINNER. The latter moved up stoutly when leaving the back stretch, drew to the winner midway of the stretch, but hung during the closing stages. UVIRA raced in the thick of contention from the beginning, responded to punishment and was going fastest at the close. SPEY CREST overcame early interference, swung to the outside, but could not engage the leaders. COUNT BRUNO was under stout handling all the way, but failed to menace seriously. SMILING STAR was unable to reach the leaders. LISTARO had a very rough trip in the first half mile and was held safe when clear. ROCKROMA showed speed in the first half mile. KIBITZER, saved off the pace for the first three-quarters, moved up stoutly nearing the stretch, rallied to punishment while finishing between the leaders and was up right at the close. DARK MISSION gained fast in the last half mile, raced into a clear lead when straightened into the stretch, but tired steadily nearing the finish. BLACK FLASH, slow to get going, swung to the outside when in full stride and finished with a belated rush. DARKSIN1 raced forwardly throughout and continued gamely in the final drive. PARTISAN was unable to gain when vigorously shaken up. LOCARA was never dangerous. BLACK STOCKINGS could never enter contention. JOGGLE had a rough trip going to the first turn. CLARKSDALE had speed from the start, forced the pace under mild urging, took a slight lead inside the final sixteenth and just failed to last. DESERT CALL set the pace and saved ground ali the way, then hung on determinedly in the closing drive, although tiring slielHly. PARITY, well placed throughout, could not threaten the leaders. HITTIE lacked speed to keep pace with the leaders in the early stages, came through on the inside when the stretch was reached, closed willingly and outfinished EASTER HATTER. The latter moved up threateningly after the first half mile, then tired slightly in the drive. EPICURUS lacked speed to keep pace in the early stages, and closed with a rush through the stretch. BIT OF SORROW forced the pace for three-quarters, moved into command inside the final three-sixteenths, closed gamely, but was unable to hold the winner. TREY, slightly impeded at the start, raced prominently throughout, then outfinished HASTINOLA. The latter set the pace for three-quarters, then tired badly in the last eighth. NIGHTS END, well placed throughout, saved ground entering the stretch, but was no match for the leaders in the final sixteenth. SEMESTER forced the pace and tired badly in the last quarter mile. ACAJOU set the pace from soon after the start, bore out slightly entering the stretch and was no match for the winner in the final eighth. BAGGATAWAY raced evenly. SKIPSEA tired badly. TROUBANOVA made up ground. VIRADO closed with a rush. MOUTHPIECE quit after the first mile.
