I HAWTHORNE TURF NOTES f $ $ Two horses were claimed out of the first race at Hawthorne Tuesday, R. C. Thatcher taking Skeeter as L. L.. Kaplan added Dark Prince to his small stable. They were entered for ,500 each. The Hawthorne board of stewards made the following announcement Monday afternoon relative to the performance of Maxine B. in the first race and Happy Hunter in the second: "The further entries of Maxine B. and Happy Hunter will not be received at this meeting" until they are pronounced fit by Dr. George B. McKillip, Illinois racing commission veterinarian. Maxine B. is to be examined for defective vision. Happy Hunter has bad knees, which caused him to run out after the break." P. P. Rollins is considering having Happy Hunter unsexed and fired. The horse ran out badly in his race here Tuesday. Valiant Boy, owned by I. Stepp, goes to Omaha where he will be campaigned by B. Berry. .
