PETRINA B. SURPRISE WINNER Takes Third Purse of Omaha Meeting. Program Made Up of Small Fields Choices Fare Poorly. OMAHA, Nb., June 17. Favorites -failed in the first three races at Ak-Sar-Ben field Wednesday afternoon, when Miss Balko, Mae and Ikard went down to defeat in the order named. Qulndaro, a recent -winner, beat Miss Balko recently, while Elanac, a winner" Tuesday, trimmed Mae, and Ikard failed to finish in the money in the third race, which was won "by Petrlna B. Petrina B. was the surprise horse of the day. The filly, which has previously won two races at the meeting, was overlooked in the betting but she opened up a good, early lead to show the way throughout and pay 3. A high wind, which blew down the track, impeded the progress of the horses to some extent and the time registered was not exceptionally fast. The program, although made up of the smallest fields of the meeting, was interesting as a whole. A good card has been arranged for Thursday when the Atlantic Purse will be featured.
