GOOD OMEN took command in the opening strides, withstood early opposition from BE JUST, drew out and, under a vigorous hand ride through the stretch, was never menaced. SYLVIA G. . improved her position gradually through the last half mile and closed determinedly on the inside. BERNARDINE W. worked her way up gradually and closed with good energy in the last three-sixteenths while on the outside. BE JUST was well placed all the way, but tired slightly in the last quarter mile. MAIDEN DREAM, unruly at the post, was kept within striking distance of the leader while under restraint, only to falter when placed to pressure. MALEMAN was steadied along in back of the pace, closed stoutly through the stretch and outgamed AL CARLYS at the end. AL CARLYS drew away into a good load and, despite holding on willingly, was unable to withstand the bid of the winner. DURWRACK came willingly in the last quarter mile, but was never able to endanger the first two. ROBINS COVE, away well, dropped back in the first three-eighths and could never threaten. DIRECT went into the air at the start, but closed a big gap. He bled in the running. GEOLOGIST was going in game fashion at the end. THIRD RACE 3-4 MILE Out of Chute. Sgt. MISS PREMIER, well placed throughout, was unable to improve her position through the stretch. COUNT DEAN closed a big gap. MY BLONDE, well up early, was unable to reach the leaders under punishment. DIRIGIBLE was far back for the first five-eighths, then passed tired horses in the stretch. The latter, outrun early, swung to the outside in the stretch and closed with a rush. LADY DAY, hard ridden all the way, continued well to the end, but was no match for the first two. WITLESS, well placed, was unable to keep pace in the drive. JEANNE FETZKO was never able to gain a prominent position. BLACK GIFT, well placed from the start, moved up steadily in the run down the back stretch to within striking distance of the leader, made his bid in the last three-eighths, raced to the front before reaching the stretch and, hard ridden, held CHANCE LINE safe. The latter followed in nearest pursuit of the early pace, made a game bid to keep pace with the winner when challenged, but was not good enough. HOWARD improved his position gradually in the last half mile and finished with good energy. GALLANT MAC was never able to threaten the leaders, though closing some ground. BOSTON BROOK displayed good speed in jpacemakinc and faltered in the closing five-sixteenths. GOV. SCHOLTZ, closer than usual during the opening eighth, flattened out badly when called upon. RE-ELECTION, away well, was not hurried during the early running, began moving up steadily in the last three-eighths, raced to the front with a rush, came wide into the stretch and, fighting it out in determined fashion, outlasted LIGHTHEELED at the end. The latter, restrained early, moved up fast in the last three-eighths and fought it out to the close. WIGGLE IN moved up stoutly in the run down the back stretch, was caught in a jam when attempting to move through on the inside leaving the back stretch, was forced to take up, recovered gamely, then faltered in the last eighth. STILL ALARM, on the outside all the way, was unable to reach the loaders. JACK SNIPE and HATS OFF displayed good early speed and raced each other into submission in the first five-eighths. AMERICAN PRINCE moved up stoutly on the outside in the back stretch, assumed a slight lead after wearing down DIXIE PRINCESS and was unable to keep up in the stretch drive.
