INDICATIONS POINT TO j SMALL FIELD FOR DWYERJ NEW YORK, N. Y., June 17. Indications are the field for the Dwyer Stakes will be a small one, with a few of the eligibles of a quality to give John Hay Whitneys Mr. Bones a really serious argument. There has been a hope for a return match with William Woodwards Granville, which only beat the son of Royal Minstrel inches in the mile and a half of the Belmont Stakes, but the son of Gallant Fox declining, has robbed the race of that promised interest. There is the promise that the most notable I starters to oppose Mr. Bones will be Walter; M. Jeffords Jean Bart and the Brookmeadej Stables Gean Canach, a greatly improved colt that ran his best race recently when he was winner of the Shevlin Stakes. He has been steadily improving and a, recent mile and a furlong in 1:54 was rather an impressive final. James Fitzsimmons will probably send out the Wheatley Stables Teufel, to take the place of Granville, and it is possible he may select one other from that stable, but on recent form it would seem that he has nothing better than either Jean Bart or Gean Canach to oppose Mr. Bones.
