t LAUREL PARK TURF NOTES I , and E. S. Welter, who recently served as starter at Richmond, Va., Rolling Rock and Hunt-lington Valley, was a visitor on Thursday. He reported that each of the meetings attracted large crowds. J. P. Ryan, who trains and rides the horses of Richard K. and Paul Mellon, will ride at two different hunt meetings on Saturday, according to advicesreaching here. Ryan will ride Toolbox in the "second race at the Rosetree hunt meeting in Pennsylvania, after which he will board a plane to ride Easter Shore at the Monmouth County Hunt Club in the state of New Jersey. Jockey R. Root, clever apprentice under contract to E. K. Bryson, will become a full-fledged rider after he rides two more winners. The youngster has ridden six winners during the past ten days at Laurel. Drafts of horses consigned by James Healy, Selby Burch, F. A. Ludlow, H. T. Met-calf and many others will be offerings to be disposed of In a sale of horses in training to be conducted in the paddock at Laurel on Thursday, October 22.
