RIVER DOWNS MEETING EXTENDED TO OCTOBER 31 CINCINNATI, Ohio, Oct 15. The present successful River Downs meeting will continue an extra week, closing October 31, was the announcement made today by Joseph A. Murphy, director of racing, after a conference with E. P. Strong, general manager of the River Downs Racing Association. Judge Murphy said that the meeting which had been designed to acquaint the public of Cincinnati and its environs with the policies and methods of the new organization, had, in spite of the most unfavorable weather conditions, met with such a wholehearted response from the horsemen and public alike, that the management felt justified in extending another week. The same class of racing which has been offered from the beginning will be maintained to the finish. The minimum purse will remain at 00, and racing secretary Charles F. Henry will provide for closing day one of the most attractive programs of the local season. This will include an eight-race program with a handicap for three-year-olds and over, 1,500 added, at a mile and forty yards; another handicap for all ages, with ,000 added, at six furlongs, and what may prove the real feature of the day, the River Downs Endurance, two miles and a quarter, to which ,500 will also be added. There will also be a handicap for two-year-olds, and another marathon race at a mile and three-quarters for cheaper grade platers. It is believed that if the good weather continues to the finish the meeting will have a brilliant closing:
