WAGGONER MEMORIAL CLOSED Texas Jockey Club Will Release List of Eligibles Within Few Days Stars Named. ARLINGTON, Texas, Oct 15. With nominations for the 5,000 Waggoner Memorial Handicap, top stake of the Texas Jockey Clubs fall meeting, which gets under way next Thursday, closing at midnight tonight, many are still coming in. It will be several days before the complete list can be announced since all nominations with postmark on or before midnight October 15 must be accepted. In addition there is a late clause permitting entries up to and including October 31, with an additional payment. Among those definitely nominated and in the hands of the Texas Jockey Club are the E. F. Seagram trio Stand Pat, Tempestuous, and Sablin. Rosselli, owned by J. C. Palmer, and trained by Frank Gilpin, who handles the Seagram colorbearers, was also named. A. A. "Bert" Baroni, whose Top Row won the 1935 Waggoner Memorial, named the gallant son of Peanuts again and also Ann ORuley, Star Shadow and Golden Eye, in which he places his greatest faith. C. A. Ma-rone, trainer of Ted Clark, which won the 1934 memorial, decided to nominate the C. N. Mooney candidate for the 1936 renewal. A. A. "Tony" Pelleteris Where Away, Long Run Stables Marynell, and John Thealls Rip Van Winkle, are three other known candidates. Paul Renick named Jaber for Richard D. Laval, and Mark Cox, Wyoming sportsman, named Sir Ridgeway. Eddie Haughton has Cascapedia, and C. E. Davison nominated Salaam and Navanod. Others include G. B. Scallons Short Skirt and the Motor City Stables Appealing. Many eastern owners shipping, to California and Santa Anita will take advantage of the supplementary clause, if their candidates come along in good style, and the field is expected to be augmented past the number which accepted the issue in 1935.
