Middleton, who recently entered the owners ranks by purchasing the plater Pepper Patch, has obtained William Pass-more to train the three-year-old daughter of Scotch Broom. Joseph B. Boyle, general manager of the Southern Maryland Agricultural Association, who has been a daily visitor at Laurel in the interest of the Bowie stakes, which closed Thursday, stated that nominations are pouring in at a faster rate than on any other occasion. He predicts that the six stakes will attract larger numbers of entries than heretofore. The schooling list at Laurel was increased to its largest size when Going Some, Turn Up, Pottage, Bomar, Flying Zelma, Black Boo, Pan Toy and Flower Time were added. There are twenty-one receiving barrier education. The nomination of Moon Side, E. Kanes four-year-old Broadside Over the Moon gelding, a winner of his last four races, has been received for the Prince George Autumn Handicap, the Thanksgiving Handicap and the Bryan and OHara Memorial Handicap to be run at Bowie. Danny Kearney, who trains for Mrs. Virginia B. Potter, has named the useful filly. Masked Queen, for the Marlboro Claiming Stakes. For a sum that was not made public, R. P. Knudsen sold the three-year-old bay gelding. Sir Rose, to E. A. Smith. A. L. Copeland, Jr., has been appointed agent for F. W. Alger, Jr., W. R. Seamster for F. A. Griffith, and F. C. Travis for A. W. Abbot Their applications were granted by the Maryland Racing Commission. Trainers that were recently licensed by the Maryland Racing Commission are Albert Lederman, Harold A. Bryant, Carlton A. Roles, Frank Rose, H. Grainger, H. G. Gaither, John Games Murphy, John P. Smith, Vincent Powers, R. A. Coon, J. J. Feeney and William Passmore. Anthony Pelleteri, who recently lost the services of the promising two-year-old, Live Granite, through an accident at Laurel, received ,000 from the Harford Insurance Company.
