INFERNO LAD had much speed to hold a contending position early, moved to the front without effort and held MAD FRUMP safe under pressure nearing the close. The latter, shuffled back going to the first turn, swung to the outside in the last half mile when in full stride and finished stoutly in the final test. CREDULOUS, hard ridden to maintain a forward position while in tight quarters next to the inner rail, tired in the last quarter mile. PEEDEEQUE went in the first flight but was unable to keep up in the late stages. PRECIOUS KING finished gamely. SUN SWEEP had to be vigorously ridden to hold a short lead in the first three quarters, and tired. THE MAULER circled his company and made up some ground. GOLD STREAK quit. The others were outrun.
