LADY CONFUCIUS improved her position steadily under clever handling, responded quickly to hard urging, easily disposed of CERRO in the last eighth and drew away to win in hand. RED ROD, far back in the early stages, sained rapidly after going a half mile and closed an immense gap. CERRO, dose up under steady restraint for five-eighths, drew into command with ease, but tired badly in the last eighth. UNLAWFUL was prominent throughout, saved ground, then tired.
