TWOSOME was unable to keep pace during the early stages, swung to the outside in the stretch and, closing with a rush, was up in the concluding strides. GAYETTE, reserved in near attendance of the pace established by ROYAL SHOOT, continued stubbornly to the end. LANDSCAPE was unable to keep pace during the first half mile and closed determinedly in the last eighth. ROYAL SHOOT raced to the front in the opening strides, drew away into a comfortable lead in the first quarter mile and was under steadying reserve, only to give way badly in the last seventy yards. OSMUCK was unable to reach the leaders, but made up some ground. STARWICK was unable to make up any ground after gaining a prominent position in the first three-eighths. LOVE POTION had good speed, but was in close quarters nearing the stretch and his rider was forced to take up sharply. HIGH MONGUL moved up on the inside through the back stretch, took command before reaching the half-mile ground, drew clear and was under punishment through ihe last eighth to hold CLAIMANT safe. The latter, restrained until leaving the back stretch, closed gamely, but was unable to reach the winner. CHIEF MOURNER improved his position gradually in the last half mile and finished gamely, but was never in a position to endanger the first two. BOOCAP closed a big gap-in the last three-eighths. CYNWYD was unable to threaten. VENETIAN closed with a belated bid after trailing for most of the way. ADAMITE quit after going three-quarters. TRANSIT LADY was steadied along for the first half mile, moved through on the inside at the stretch turn and, closing stoutly, took command and outlasted LOTTAFUN at the end. The latter was restrained close up, responded gamely when called upon and held on in determined fashion in the closing test. AUREATE, under slisht restraint for the first three-eighths, moved up steadily in the last five-sixteenths. SOCK DOLOGEI! was unable to gain racing room early, but finished stoutly through the stretch when clear. DRAFT SERGEANT had good speed in disputing the lead with TAWNY PRINCESS dropping back in the last three-sixteenths and came back to the stand badly lamed. LONG COUNT closed with a rush in the stretch. TAWNY PRINCESS, a first time starter, showed good speed for the first half mile. PROSECUTOR quit. BLANDISHMENT gained command in the run to the first turn, was rated along under slight restraint, withstood determined opposition from BELOW COST, disposed of him, but was-:unable to cope with the closing bid of the winner. BULLFINCH. was outrun early, raced into contention with a rush, but. was unable to-make up any ground in the drive. BELOW COST was, unable to keep up. PADDYS, SISTER made up some ground in the last three-sixteenths, .after trailing for most, of the trip. LONGFUL was never able to reach the leaders and was far back throughout.
