t KEENELAND TURF NOTES O : S Officers and officials of the Keeneland Association and turf writers will be guests of the Thoroughbred Club of America at a luncheon to be served in the grandstand restaurant of the Keeneland track Saturday. The affair will start at 1:45 oclock. Thomas Piatt, president of the club, will preside. Howard Wells has taken over to train for Morris Vehon, wealthy Chicago patron, the horses Threadneedle, Mouse Trap, Ivory Tip and Peter J. Peel. Wise Bess acceptance for the Ashland Stakes Saturday was telegraphed to racing secretary C. J. McLennan from Cincinnati by H. G. Shoemaker, owner of the horse. The racer was to arrive Friday evening by van from River Downs. Field Day, in the division of Mose Gold-blatts stable on the grounds, escaped unhurt when he fell after working three-quarters through the slop here Friday morning. His exercise rider also was uninjured. Prepping for the Breeders Stakes, to be run on Closing day of the meeting, Mrs. Payne Whitneys Memory Book, winner of the Yankee Stakes at Suffolk Downs, was sent through a nine furlongs trial here early Friday. Working on a sloppy course and stoutly urged during thp final three furlongs, the son of St. Germans traversed the long route in 1:58 the mile in 1:44, three-quarters in 1:16, and opening half mile in :49. Among the many messages of good wishes for a successful meeting received by Keeneland officials were those sent by Joseph E. Widener, Matt J. Winn, Algernon Dainger-field, C. J. FitzGerald, Clarence E. Lehr, T. S. and X S. Mulvihill, Jo Zach Miller III., and "Cap" Lick. Robert Dotter injured his wrist while riding Fitter Thursday and canceled his mounts Friday.
