BREEDERS STAKES AT KEENELAND ATTRACTS FIVE 1 4 Chief Stake Offering of New Track Feature of Todays Program Mrs. J. Hertz Count Arthur Strong Favorite to Win ,000 Added Prize Memory Book and Tatterdemalion Rivals of Chicago-Owned Racer LEXINGTON, Ky., Oct. 20. The Breeders Stakes, ,000 added, feature of Keenelands inaugural meeting of nine days, will have its first running as the headliner of tomorrows program of seven events. Fr; horses were named for the mile and one-quarter event today, with the field headed by Mrs. John Hertz Count Arthur, which promises to rule a strong favorite. Under the conditions of the Breeders Stakes, the top weight is 132 pounds, and the low weight, 112 pounds, but as Discovery, Granville, Rosemont, Sun Teddy and Mr. Bones are absentees, Count Arthur must carry the highest impost of 115 pounds. However, he will be receiving weight on the scale from the Greentree Stables Memory Book, and C. V. Whitneys Tatterdemalion, which are three-year-olds. These horses will carry the minimum impost of 112 pounds, along with the Wal- mao Stables Maple Ricca, and H. G. Shoemakers Wise Bessa. The latter, being a filly, will be carrying the same weight on the scale as Count Arthur. jggf The Hertz colt arrived yesterday from Jamaica, where on Saturday he accounted for the Continental Handicap. Samrny Renick, who rode him in that event, reaches here tomorrow to have the mount on the Reigh Count four-year-old. Previous to that victory he captured the Jockey Club Gold Cup, with Memory Book finishing second. They carried scale weights in that two-mile affair. Tatterdemalions best recent performance was in the Potomac Handicap, in which he came from behind the pace to nose out High Fleet and to defeat other fair three-year-olds. Johnny Gilbert is expected to have the mount on Memory Book, and Raymond Workman may ride Tatterdemalion although the latter may have to take up a pound or two overweight. With the track continuing to dry out steadily today, there is every chance that it will be at its best for tomorrows program for the first time since opening day, when Myrtlewood ran six furlongs in 1:10. In support of the Breeders Stakes, a well balance program has been arranged by Sidney Brown and Fred A. Burton. The principal supporting events are the Whitney and Fairaway Purses, which will engage such fair juveniles as Upper Berth, Percent, Cross S., White Tie, Recussion and Cheer Star.
