CHEVY CHASE STEEPLECHASE RENEWED AT LAUREL TODAY LAUREL, Md., Oct. 20. Mid-week racing at the Laurel plant of the Maryland State Fair, Inc., is featured by the twenty-fourth running of the Chevy Chase Steeplechase Handicap, at about two miles. This highlight carries an added value of ,500 and has attracted six of the best jumpers in training at present Top weight of the sextet has been allotted to Thomas Hitchcocks four-year-old Rioter, which has distinguished himself over the fences throughout the East during the summer. The son of Reflector and Lauretta is asked to carry 160 pounds and will likely have the services of Mr. Rigan McKinney as pilot. The Chevy Chase, which is regarded as one of the outstanding fall fixtures for jumpers, will lose none of its interest this year. While the field is small it is select and it is quite possible that if Rioter is forced to carry his impost along at a fast pace in the early stages, that a new mark for the event will be recorded.
