I LAT0NIA TURF NOTES T Friends and acquaintances of Dr. Russell E. Stone, president of the Louisiana Jockey Club, and prominent surgeon, were, shocked at the news of his death in New Orleans Friday morning after undergoing an emergency operation for appendicitis. Stone had served as president of the Louisiana Jockey, Club the past two years and was quite popular with turfmen. John O. Keene, Lexington breeder and sportsman, motored down from his home to view Epohine, his eligible in the Clipsetta Stakes, perform at Latonia. Jockey Robards Cheatham returned to the saddle Saturday afternoon after having served a suspension of ten days, meted out for failure to fulfill his engagements two weeks ago. The following horses owned by David W. Butler, Hollywood cinema director, will be shipped to Aqueduct on Monday by trainer Albert Dunne: Manners Man, Canny Scot, Screen, Putzen, Dashwood, Playback, Dust Box, Cloud o Dust and Grace Carome. J. M. Rector added another horse to the band that he has at Latonia when he took over the six-year-old plater Suncircle Elan to condition for P. E. Sellers and C. Sears. Cabe N. Rogers, veteran clocker, is up and around again after an illness of several days caused by a stomach disorder. Rogers is a resident of Covington and has long been connected with racing in Kentucky. Racing secretary William H. Shelley has started work on the draft of his third condition book of the Latonia meeting, the current issue expiring with next Thursdays sport at the Covington track.
