ALBERT D. TAKES INAUGURAL Horvath Racer Accounts for Blue : Bonnets Feature Connaught j Cup Palls to Pestle. MONTREAL, Que., June 19. Albert D., iblack gelded son of Blackwood and Gulf Girl, racing for Mrs. K. Horvath and trained by K. Horvath, former rider1, accounted for the running of the Blue Bonnets Inaugural Handicap, feature of the opening day of the Ifourteen-day meeting of the Montreal Jockey Club, when he drove to the finish a length ibefore J. G. Fairs Lorraine S. Bea M., from lie P. M. Sturm estate stable, raced to third :place, a length and one-half-back and a half length, in advance of the Stockwood Stables Willow Wand. Albert D. was well ridden by A. Prain and raced the six furlongs in 1:18 in the heavy going. A crowd of more than 10,000 journeyed to the beautiful Blue Bonnets course for the , opening, which was conducted over a sloppy j racing strip, which was turning more heavy i as the afternoon progressed. Albert D. was rated back off the pace for the first half mile then, as the field turned i into the stretch for the drive, Prain sent ihe Horvath gelding to the outside and closing fast, took command inside the final sixteenth, but began to tire badly and had to be ridden out to maintain command. Lorraine S. raced with the leaders from the start then appeared to drop back entering the stretch but came again near the end to rapidly gain, on the leader at the end. Bea M. slipped through on the inside to take command in the stretch, then?tired in the last furlong and dropped back ta third place. Pestle, racing back to his good effort at Long Branch, accounted for the sixteenth running of the Connaught .Gup, secondary feature of the opening day, which was revived by the association. This race was first run in" 1912 and was discontinued in 1933.
