The latter raced wide, entered contention with a rush and tired in the final eighth, but barely missed getting up. BLIND SAGE, far back for a half mile, made up ground steadily thereafter .and outfinished- TRANSPORT. The latter, on the inside for almost five-eighths, rallied after coming to the outside. DAWN PLAY, away fast but taken under restraint to follow the pace before reaching the first turn, was raced wide after the first three-quarters, wore down CASE ACE gradually and, holding on with fine courage, held BURNING STAR safe. The latter, on the inside throughout, began to improve his position after reaching the final half mile, stood a long, hard drive gamely and was racing stronger than the winner at the end. DELLOR, also raced wide and allowed to remain a good distance back for three-quarters, responded gamely when called upon and, after closing much ground, was going boldly at the end. CASE ACE, placed on the outside at the .start, set a good pace under fine rating, was placedto severe pressure after a mile and .held on well to the final eighth before tiring. EAGLE PASS, badly outrun for a mile and slow to respond, closed fastest of all on the outside. GREY GOLD tired after forcing the early pace.
