NORWAY NELL, off in good fashion, raced up on the inside of BOSTONIAN LADY entering the stretch and, under slight urging, came on to win handily. HIGH GRENADE, never far from the pacemakers, raced on the outside through the final eighth to get second place narrowly. BOSTONIAN LADY, rushed into the lead at once, set the pace for a quarter mile, but tired in the final drive. LAZY MARTHA suffered some interference soon after the start, raced well after getting clear, but tired slightly near the end. SIMMERING could never got up. HELEN FAIRPLAY raced evenly. THE HARE, rushed up between horses in the first few yards, went to the front approaching the half-mile post, steadily drew away from the field rounding the turn and won easily. TONEYS GIRL, in close quarters early, closed fast on the inside entering the stretch when clear and, under a hard drive in the final eighth, was closing on the winner at the end. MISS ELIVIA broke in front, dropped back slightly going to the turn, then came again between horses through the stretch to take third place narrowly in the final stride. VERA CROFTON, a forward factor from the start, finished strongly in the final drive. HEAD ON raced with good courage throughout. MY MINT was fractious at the post and, started from outside the gate, broke well but could not keep up. YGNACIO quit after going a half mile. RUSTIC MISS showed some early speed. ACAPULCO went to the front soon after the start, drew into a good lead entering the stretch turn, but had to be shaken up in the final sixteenth to hold his advantage. WEST SEA, off slowly, closed fast between horses entering the stretch and, under a hard drive through the final eighth, was closing on the winner at the finish. VOLAR, close up to the stretch, saved ground on the inside, but tired near the end. ALSTON, always within striking distance of the leaders, closed gamely in the stretch run. BLACK BONNET closed some ground in the final eighth. DICK ELE raced well for a half mile, but then tired. MISS BALL ran away for three-quarters before the race and was never a factor in the running. BEE LINE, in a contending position throughout, closed strongly in the final drive. NELLIE QUINCE, far back for a half mile, came fast on the inside entering the stretch to finish fastest of all. MUCKER took command soon after the start, set the pace to the stretch, but tired in the final drive. QUEEN FULL saved all the ground possible on the inside rounding the far turn, but was never able to reach the leaders. BELLES LAST forced the pace for a half mile, but then tired. SIR THOMAS, off in last place, steadily moved up on the inside rounding the far turn and, under a hard drive through the stretch, was going strongly at the finish. TUG O WAR showed good speed for a half mile, but tired. PAT BANE was forced to raced on the outside all the. way and could never get up. DRACO was taken up sharply soon after the start, dropped far out of it going to the turn and made his move much too late but was going fast at the end. The others were never dangerous. ONWELL, up with the leaders all the way, was in close quarters entering the stretch, but closed gamely in the final drive.
