SEABISCUIT GETS 133 POUNDS Bay Meadows Racing Secretary Compromises With Owner How-and and Splits Difference. SAN MATEO, Calif., April 11. Racing secretary Morrison of Bay Meadows would make a good ambassador. The ex-schoolmaster from Oklahoma proved to be quite a diplomat when he cut the cake in the center in alloting the weights for the Bay Meadows Handicap. General manager Bill Kyne wanted to put 136 pounds on Seabis-cuit. Owner Charles S. Howard wanted 130, so Morrison compromised with 133 pounds, hoping that all hands would be satisfied. Morrison appears to have accomplished his purpose in pleasing all concerned. While owner Howard stated "that 133 was a lot of weight," he did not come out with a posN tive statement that he would not run Sea-biscuit in the Bay Meadows Handicap. He said that he would think it over. LIKES LIGHT WEIGHT. In the opinion of most horsemen at Bay Meadows, Seabiscuit would win the 5,000 added handicap with 140 on his back. No doubt owner Howard believes likewise. His only objection to heavy weight is that it might break the horse down. Howard probably would be satisfied to permit all other horses in the event to carry five pounds less than their allotted weight, could he get Sea-biscuit in with 130 pounds. Out of the field of twenty-four nominated, but a half dozen seem to have even a remote chance of defeating Seabiscuit. They are Ligaroti, Indian Broom, Whichcee, Go-sum, Today and Sweepalot. Ligaroti, a speed horse owned by the son of. the owner of Sea-biscuit, is second high weight in the Bay Meadows with 119 pounds. Gosum has 113 and is fourth on the list Indian Broom has 111 and Whichcee 110. Today has 112 and Sweepalot 109.
