COLD WAVE, away very slowly, moved up steadily on the outside rounding the turn, came with a rush in the final sixteenth and, under a hard drive, won in the final stride. DADS BIRTHDAY raced into the lead midway of the turn, drew out in the stretch, but tired near the end and just missed. MONA CONARD was always up with the leaders and closed strongly in the final eighth though in close quarters and just saved third by a scant margin. GOLD RETURN came with a rush in the final drive and was catching the leaders at the finish. CHEERS raced evenly throughout, but could never get to the leaders. POLVOS IMAGE, away well, raced LYRA into defeat in the first half mile and, coming nicely at the end, won by a wide margin. DODIE, never far from the leaders, closed fast between horses in the stretch and was going strongly at the end, but was no match for the winner. SUN PETAL, close to the leaders to the stretch, was forced to take up slightly at the eighth post when in close quarters, then came again to finish gamely. TYNEMOUTH, very slow to get going, saved ground on the inside rounding the turn, and came fast through the stretch, but could not get up. FELAXE closed a big gap in the final eighth. LYRA raced head-and-head with the winner to the stretch, then tired. JAY A. raced well for a quarter, but tired. The others were never dangerous. Overweight Lyra, 3 pounds. FLYING DAZZLER, far back in the first quarter, saved ground on the inside rail rounding the far turn, moved up when the leaders swung wide entering the stretch and, under slight urging, won going away. SKY ORME, off in last place, trailed the field for a half mile and, going to the outside entering the far turn, finished with a rush and was closing in on the winner in the final drive. HURTLE, always within striking distance of the leaders, moved up rounding the stretch turn and, taken a bit wide entering the stretch, could not recover the lost ground though racing well at the end. BOOM TOWN came from far back in the final half mile and finished strongly in the stretch drive. HARD BOILED went to the front at once, set the pace to. the stretch, but then tired. GOLD CLASP, well up throughout, came fast on the outside in the final eighth to take second place. STOLEN COLOR saved, ground on the rail entering the stretch and forged to the front at the eighth post, but tired in the final drive. MORFIRE closed a gap in the final sixteenth and finished very fast on even terms with MIGNON for fourth place. The latter forced the pace to the stretch, but tired slightly near the end. The latter, always a forward factor, forged to the front midway of the stretch, but tired in the final drive. PORLEZZA, slow to get going, rushed up between horses rounding the far turn and finished strongly. MASKED PLANE raced to the front soon after the start and set the pace for a half mile, but quit badly. HILDA MAY showed good speed for a half mile, but tired. FAITHFUL MAUD, slow to get going, came fast between horses in the stretch and closed strongly in the final drive, but was no match for the winner. ST. STEPHENS, well up from the start, forged to the front rounding the turn and led to midway of the stretch, but tired in the final drive. WHA HAE raced up to the leaders on the far turn, made a game bid for the lead entering the stretch, but tired in the run home. GRAVEN MAID rushed into the lead soon after the start, set the pace by a head for a quarter mile, but then tired.. SIR RIDGWAY was away slowly and trailed the field to the stretch, then closed some ground. WHISCENDA showed good speed for a half mile, then quit. The latter, far out of it for a half mile, closed fast on the outside entering the stretch, came with a rush in the final eighth when straightened and was catching the winner at the finish. TEMPER, far back for the first part, came fast on the inside through the final eighth to finish fastest of all. ATLANTE rushed into the lead at the sfart and set the pace to the stretch head, but tired. POMPETE showed good speed for a half mile, but quit. ERLA also displayed some good early speed. STE. TRANS-BIRD, closest to the early pacemaker, dropped back slightly rounding the far turn when the winner took the lead, then came again in the final eighth and was catching the winner at the end. BAY SISTER closed much ground in the final half mile to finish gamely in the stretch run. LOU MACHADO saved ground on the inside rounding the far turn, but was unable to get to the leaders. BUD BROOM moved up steadily on the back stretch, came to the inside rounding the far turn and went to the front midway of the stretch, but failed to hold the winner in the closing strides. JOBIOSO, close up from the start, forged to the front on the back stretch to set the pace, but tired in the final drive. ALAMOON broke in front dropped back going to the first turn and was never able to make up the lost ground though racing gamely at the finish.
