FLORIDAS CAINS FROM TURF States Coffers Enriched by ,200,-446.91 in Taxes From 1937-38 Racing Season. MIAMI, Fla., April 11 Horse racing poured ,200,446.91 into the coffers of the state of Florida during the season of 1937-38, according to figures compiled by the state racing commission after the last race at Tropical Park Saturday. This was an increase of 13,865.44 over last winter. A total of 822,858 saw the sport at Hialeah and Tropical Parks, playing 4,252,022 through the mutuel machines to produce ,027,560.66 for the state, which takes 3 per cent of the play. Revenue to the state from admissions was 58,951.25, and 3,935 was gleaned from occupational taxes. Hialeah Parks total play was 2,076,243, for a daily average through forty-six days of 79,918. The total Hialeah attendance was 514,415, averaging 11,183 per day. The play showed an increase of ,946,138 and the attendance 37,955. Tropical Parks fifty days, split into two meetings, saw 2,175,779 go through the mutuels for an increase of 80,726 over last season and an average per day of 43,516. The total Tropical attendance was 308,443. The average per day was 6,169. Closing days play was 91,728.
