BOWIE TURF NOTES Prince Gale, defeated favorite in the two-year-old race, was claimed by C. J. Wemsley from Mrs. K. Smart for ,500. Two horses changed hands during the afternoon, D. J. Sullivan, HI., claiming America First from L. Ring for ,500, while J. E. Morrison secured Sea "Dove from T. Presgrave for ,000. Jockey J. Longden will be here to ride the unbeaten Charlotte Girl in the Aberdeen Stakes, opening day feature at Havre de Grace. E. Mulrenan arrived from Havana. He raced several horses during the winter meeting at Oriental Park. William Reese, "Dutch" Boyer and George Dorr came down from Jamaica for their first view of racing this spring. Frank Keogh arrived from Florida and will leave for New York on Wednesday. J. Alley and Tom Cropper, two of starter Miltons assistants, presided over schooling exercises at Havre de Grace this morning. Trainer Dan Kearney reported that Masked Queen, owned by Mrs. Holland Potter was due to foal at the farm this week. The mare is in foal to Sun Meadow and will be bred back to Brokers Tip. E. S. Welter will journey to Pimlico on Wednesday to school the horses owned by J. W. Y. Martin. Jockey R. Merritt left for New York and will ride at the Jamaica meeting. Tom Doyle arrived at Havre de Grace with four horses which he raced during the Florida season. Jockey G. Seabo arrived from Florida and will accept mounts at Havre de Grace. Francis Dunne returned from a week-end visit to New York. The feature of Thursdays program will be the Mayor Howard W. Jackson Handicap on the final day of the Bowie meeting. Jockey Corbett leads the list of winning riders with eleven victories at the meeting. Following his triumph in the final race on Saturday, Mariato pocked up four additional pounds for his effort today. Reports from Charles Town, W. Va., are to the effect that 175 horses are stabled there awaiting that meeting which opens on May 16. Phil Reuter was appointed agent for the stable raced by J. C. Morrison of Norwich, Conn. Dan Kearney will transfer the horses owned by Mrs. Holland Potter of Virginia, to Havre de Grace on Wednesday. Kearney expects to strengthen the stable by additional purchases this spring. Moon Side, owned by Cleaveland Putnam, 1 may be kept here to fulfill his engagement J in the stake offering on Wednesday. A. C. Comptons Sun Egret, winner of the Bowie Spring Handicap and an eligible for the dash, will be reserved for the Chesapeake J Stakes at Havre de Grace. j
