1 BOWIE TURF NOTES T s i E. S. Welter displayed blue prints for a new starting gate which he will try and market. The device is built to use with walk-up starts and consists of two barriers attached to rails which move at a controlled speed. The horses face one barrier and are kept in line by the rear one. Provision is made for lead ponies to accompany unruly horses. Word was received from Havana that a. summer meeting would be inaugurated at Oriental Park on April 16 and continue to October 12. Racing will be conducted two da;-s each week, Saturday and Sunday.
