MAY OMIT MONDAY RACES SPRINGFIELD, 111., April 8. The way was opened today for Illinois race tracks to omit any week day from their meetings in addition to Sunday and yet comply with racing laws. The authority was given in an opinion issued by Attorney-General John E. Cassidy to George H. Foster, secretary of the Illinois Racing Commission. The opinion was issued as a result of the Fairmount Park Jockey Club, Inc., requesting the commission for a license for a race meeting at Collinsville, commencing on May 6 and ending October 14, 1939, with all Mondays, except May 29 and September 4, to be eliminated.
