CHURCHILL DOWNS NOTES I In addition to the three horses that Lee Niles has quartered at Churchill Downs, the Louisville trainer brought in four more, the property of C. A. ONeill at Douglas Park. The quartet is composed- of Dbngy, Brilliant Rose, Saiicy Lass and Town League. Emerson F. Woodward, owner of the Val-dina Farms, spent the week-end in Louisville, returning to Lexington Monday -where a large division of his pretentious stable is being campaigned by J. J. Flanigan. A number of the I. J. Collins horses stabled at Douglas Park were scheduled to be transported to Beulah Park for racing under the direction of Carter Everett. Al Miller, trainer of the main division of the Ohio-owned outfit, has several horses at Keeneland. F. C. Podesta, Memphis sportsman, who has several horses at Churchill Downs being prepared by former jockey Frank Catrone, came over from Lexington Sunday to inspect his stock. Most of the Podesta racers are two-year-olds which will not embark on their racing careers until the inauguration of the Churchill Downs meeting on April 29. Jimmy McGee took up three horses owned by Judge L. W. Ulmer, which were wintered in Maryland. Screen and two juveniles are the trio and are quartered at Douglas Park. However, the two-year-olds are not expected to be ready for competition until mid-summer, McGee announced. The stable is scheduled to be sent to Lincoln Fields at the close of the Churchill Downs meeting. The plans of John Massey, Jr., concerning the four horses he has at Douglas Park and which were raced throughout the winter in New Orleans, have been altered to the extent that he will participate in racing at Keeneland, instead of awaiting the opening of Churchill Downs. However, the stable will be maintained at Douglas Park. R. S. Byrum is transferring the horses he had at Douglas Park to Churchill Downs. Those coming over to the Derby track are Royal Charm, Hindu Princess, Scrappy Miss, Deft and Henry. The Byrum Brothers horses now racing at Keeneland will be transferred here later. Jockey Robert Finnerty, New Orleans boy, is here galloping horses to keep in shape for the Churchill Downs meeting.
