1 TANFORAN TURF NOTES s e Mrs. T. Loeff purchased the four-year-old colt Cue Ball from Kozinsky Bros. Terms of the sale were private. Jockey Alan Gray was a visitor at Tanforan Saturday afternoon. Gray recently underwent an operation for an injury to his right eye. Jockey Frank Chojnacki is passing cigars around to his friends announcing the arrival of an eight-pound son born Monday morning. Both the mother and baby are doing nicely. The stewards have placed the five-year-old gelding Gold Trophy on the stewards list. Gold Trophy raced to the outside fence in his race Saturday. Trainer H. A. Vance, has taken over the training of the five-year-old gelding Chatt-nan for C. Levey. D. June formerly trained the horse. W. Norton, trainer for the Manhasset Stable, shipped the star handicap performer Roman Hero, winner of the San Bruno and the Tanforan Three-Year-Old Championship Handicaps at Tanforan, and Sidney Carton to Santa Anita Monday morning. They will be rested up for the forthcoming Hollywood Park meeting. With, the arrival of twenty juvenile hopefuls from the East within the next two weeks, trainer W. Norton has wired jockey F. Scheih to report at Santa Anita the early part of May. Apprentice rider Mike Caffarella, who is under contract to J. E. Copenhayer, will start riding at Tanforan Tuesday, when he pilots Moonface in the third event. Caffarella rode with some success at the recent Phoenix meeting.
