BELLE HIGH broke forwardly and, close to the pacemaker, responded to punishment in the stretch and, taking a short lead, drew out slowly under strong urging. SPOUT RUN displayed good speed in the early stages, saved ground and held on gamely when overtaken. MACS CANTOR was in the thick of contention from the start, was blocked midway of the stretch, but finished well after recovering. SEALOCH, racing greenly after breaking slowly, closed a big gap in the late stages. BALTEE raced well placed, but failed to engage the leaders. MINY MO was always outrun and finished wide. JABIRU was outrun. YUKON TRAIL had no speed in the footing. MISS TRIM was away slowly. CON MAN was never a threat. POLLY MAC-DUN raced, ereenly. TONY STEEL, going prominently in the early stages, was kept on the outside of the leaders and, challenging strongly near the stretch, wore down the early leaders and withstood a stout drive to hold MATCH POINT, but he was disqualified for impeding MATCH POINT. The latter, repeatedly blocked in the early running and taken through on the inside entering the stretch, reached the winner and came gamely at the close. MAROC was rushed off his feet to get to the leaders early and tired from his early efforts in the drive after being impeded midway of the stretch. TAUNTON dropped back after breaking well, then failed to menace. HARDIHOOD was used up racing with FERNBRAKE and tired. FLY ME failed to enter contention. FERN-BRAKE showed speed for five-eighths, then quit. MAGS CHOICE was outrun. FLYING LARK showed much speed in making the pace, saved ground, but was unable to withstand the winner. SOARING HIGH was prominent under strong urging and made up ground steadily in the closing drive. KEY MAN was hard ridden and showed good form. LATEPASS raced in contention all the way. ARBITRAGE was placed on the outside for the start after acting unruly. JOLLY FLAG failed to threaten. ANTICOSTI was taken up at the start and raced poorly when messed about. MYSTIC ISLE was whipped into a clear lead going to the first turn, was steadied along until leaving the back stretch, then had to be roused vigorously in the closing five-sixteenths while swerving repeatedly. HELENS LAD stumbled at the start, settled into stride after five-eighths and finished fast on the outside. TANGANYIKA made a strong bid on the last turn, swerved to the inside in the stretch and held on gamely. MAEWHISK raced strongly all the way. FIRE BALL was badly outrun. MISS ENGADINE was done early. POPO, tardy at the start and rushed off his feet to get into the lead, stalled off PLAYMORE midway of the last turn, then tired. ELLABEE was rated in contention and came gamely for the final test. JUSTA FLIGHT, away slowly, dropped far back, then failed to menace. PLAYMORE was sent up with a rush near the last turn and was- used up. SCARLET O. tired after three-quarters.
