ANDY K. WINS FUTURITY; COUNT D OR HANDICAP s s ARLINGTONS FINAL DAY Marogay Second and Roman Flag Third in Juvenile Race. Son of Jack High Graduates and Earns 3,735 Big Crowd Present Footing Slow. ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, 111., July 29. A maiden, the Millsdale Stables Andy K., disqualified after finishing in front in his last start because he ran out to interfere with another horse, and which spent a period on the barred list, because of his tendency to swerve, won the Arlington Futurity from nine other two-year-olds at Arlington Park this afternoon. Andy K. ran the six furlongs of the rich juvenile fixture on a slow track in the splendid time of 1:12 and won by two lengths to take top honors and the 3,735 prize, which repx-esented first money of the gross purse of 7,830. Andy K., a rank outsider in the field, bore out again badly in the run through the stretch, in spite of being equipped with a run-out bit, but jockey J. E. Oros, lashing his mount with one hand, and drivings him with the other, would not let him stop in his quest for victory in the richest race yet iuu this year for juveniles. WOOLF ENTRY BEATEN. R. A. Firestones Marogay captured second honors, as Arnold Hangers Roman Flag, which, with Mrs. Parker Comings Straight Lead was the favorite, ran third, a neck back. A distant fourth was the Woolford Farms Quenemo, and his stablemate, Insco-lad, next. Andy K., carrying jockey Oros to the most important victory of his career, broke alertly, took the lead before going an eighth and held his advantage to the end. The Mills-dale colt, a son of Jack High and Alice Foster, increased his advantage to a length and a half on the stretch turn, made it four lengths approaching the final eighth and, while bearing out badly the rest of the way, held his rivals safe to the end. TOUGH HOMBRE FACTOR. The Milky Way Farms Tough Hombre, coupled in an entry with Charitable, was second to the winner for almost three-eighths and then, apparently discouraged, gave up the chase. When he did, Marogay, which had been well up from the start, moved into second place and stayed there the rest of the way. Roman Flag, winner of the Mayflower Stakes, at Suffolk Downs, and hailed in some quarters as the best-juvenile prospect of the year, raced wide much of the way, but turned in a good effort, as did Quenemo. Straight Lead raced with the leaders to the last eighth, and then he gave way while none of the others was prominent after the opening quarter. J. O. Kcenes War Beauty, the only filly in the field, never figured. Second money in the Futurity was worth ,000; third, ,000, and fourth, ,500, while breeders of the first three also came in for a share of the purse. Andy K. was purchased by the Millsdale Stable, maintained by M. L. Emerich and Anthony Pelleted, from J. H. Morris, who is to receive Continued on thirty-ninth page. ANDY K. Todays splendid program brought to a brilliant close Arlington Parks thirty-day summer meeting, and a crowd, estimated at 25,000 persons, turned out to bid goodbye to the sport here for another year. The local racing season on Monday shifts to Washington Park for a thirty-day season. Weather today was ideal and, while the track was described as slow, it was drying out rapidly, and the fast performances of some of the winners belied the condition of the strip. - Mrs. John D. Hertz good four-year-old" Count dOr, winner of his last four engagements, including the Stars and Stripes Handicap here, on July 4, registered his fifth straight triumph when he captured the eleventh running of th Arlington Handicap, a run of a mile and a quarter, which served as a companion piece to the Futurity. With Johnny Longden at the Teins, and carrying the bulk of the publics support, the son of Reigh Count ran the distance in 2:05, under 112 pounds, and .won by a neck, as another son of Reigh Count, Mrs. Emil Denemarks Some Count, ran second. Still another son of the same sire, Her Reigh, trailed the field of five, third honors going to W. B. Simpsons Stands Alone, and fourth to Valdiria Farms Eagle Pass. Her Reigh is owned by William Maloney. Through todays splendid victory, Count dOr earned .,050, to bring his years earnings-to 5,765. The Woolford Farms Robert L. and Jockey Alfred Robertson made up a winning combination in the Dearborn Handicap, a test of a mile, which engaged six of the best sprinters on the grounds. Scoring his fifth victory of the year, this son of Noah moved to the front on the stretch turn, and then held his rivals safe the rest of the way, to win by two lengths. . ,
