HORSEMENS REQUEST HEEDED Hamilton Park Management Agrees to Minimum Purses of 00 Total Distribution 7,000. TORONTO, Ont, July 29. Local horsemen were successful in their efforts to have the Hamilton Jockey Club management increase the minimum purse value for the meeting opening Saturday, August 5, from 00, as listed in the condition book now in circulation, to 00. This was the main item of discussion at a meeting called by the horsemen for Thurs- day morning in the clubhouse at Hamilton. Although not held officially as a meeting of the Thoroughbred Breeders Association, President George Hardy of that body was present, and Vice-President James Heff ering acted as chairman. The horsemen drew up their request, which was presented to President R. R. Simpson, Secretary-Treasurer J. J. Conway and Harry Miller by a committee composed of James Heffering, W. G. Campbell, George Hardy and J. F. McQuay in the afternoon, and, after listening to the arguments of the horsemen, the Hamilton officials agreed to the increase. The increase will affect fourteen races throughout the meeting, bringing the total distribution to 7,000, instead of 5,600 as listed in the book. The latter total was, actually, the same as that given the second meeting of 1938, but the money had been distributed differently, the races in question being dropped to 00, from last seasons minimum of 00, the difference being added to the more important events.
