QUEEN ECHO, unable to keep up in the first three-eighths, gained steadily thereafter under strong handling, wore down MAID MARIE after a brief duel and drew clear in the last sixteenth. EASTERNER, outrun to the final quarter, was taken to the outside in the stretch and finished with a rush. MAID MARIE, away fast and showing good speed, was taken under light restraint while setting the pace then continued courageously, but tired. KATES KITTEN broke poorly and closed a big gap. BALOVER began sluggishly, moved up in threatening fashion approaching the stretch turn, was taken to the outside and tired near the end. PELL MELL made .up some ground in the final quarter. SHEKINRUN tired after being prominent to the fir.al eighth. LADY SCOUT closed a good gap in the last three-eighths. BETCHA was never a factor. JANE HULL was rushed into a long lead soon after the start and showed good speed for three-quarters, then quit hadlv.
