CREME DE MENTHE obtained a short lead after the start, shook off MISS TRYCOM before reaching the stretch and stood a long drive to hold WESTYS BUTLER safe. The latter raced close up from the start, responded willingly when placed to punishment and fought it out with good courage at the close. MISS TRYCOM showed good speed wliile forcing the pace, but tired slightly in the final eighth. WHISKORA, away slowly, gradually improved his position and closed fast. POKEAWAY, away well, could not improve his position when called upon. LAMPORTE raced evenly and never threatened the leaders. BREAD KING was outrun. PRINCE RUPERT refused. OMER, a strong factor from the beginning, moved up gamely entering the stretch and closed with -good courage, but was no match for the winner. MISS ENTRY gradually improved her position and closed with belated speed in the final quarter. RAPID BELLS forced the pace for the first three-eighths, tiring thereafter. PETER H. came gamely at the close. BOW LAND turned in a fair effort. PANATELA was outrun throughout. CUDHOGAN, a keen factor from the start, could not improve his position, despite strong pressure in the final eighth. SHOTEUR turned in an even performance. NILREBO closed some ground. ROUGE CATALAN, cleverly ridden, raced to the front after the first quarter mile, was rated -along under steady restraint, was not called upon for his best when overtaken by RIVER CREST the second time around, was briskly shaken up going to the last obstacle and, under strong urging, came away steadily. RIVER CREST gradually improved his position, was rushed into the lead after going a mile and a half, then continued gamely to the close, but could not hold the winner. IRISH TOM forced the pace for the first mile, dropped back slightly, then closed courageously through the stretch. IDA REGAN broke fast, was taken under stout restraint when outrun, then failed to better her position when put to pressure. MONOCLE lacked speed. SUPER POWER lost his rider at the sixth fence. The latter was strongly handled throughout, improved his position while racing on the outside and finished gamely. UNCLE MITCH displayed good speed for three-quarters. The latter was rated in behind the pace, moved to the leaders rapidly rounding tht final turn and drew away into a good lead, but could not hold off the winner at the end. ATTAUQUECHEE, close up throughout, came with good speed through the stretch. JOE JAY improved his position gradually, moved up threateningly entering the stretch, but buns in the final drive.
