Announce Disposition Of Victory Meet1 Funds Charles Town Session to Benefit Army-Navy Relief, Local Charities CHARLES TOWN, W. Va., May 19. Disposition of the proceeds of the 18-day "Victory Meeting" to be held on the grounds of the Charles Town Jockey Club, Inc., June 15-July 4, was announced by the West Virginia Turf Fund Committee this morning. Eighty per cent will be divided equally between Army and Navy Relief and the remaining 20 per cent will go to West Virginia Charities. The Mountaineer States share will be administered by Governor Matthew Mansfield Neely. Albert J. Boyle, Leeds K. Riely and William C. Perry compose the committee actively engaged in promoting the first genuine effort on the part of any group .interested in the thoroughbred sport to really offer an "all out" program for Relief and Charity. From every quarter, official Washington, Army and Navy leaders and the general public, the committee is being commended on its effort to make a truly great contribution to a worthy cause. Racing, this spring, has proyen it offers splendid recreation in these trying times. Everywhere the sport has held forth records have been set. The first six days of the annual Charles Town spring meeting ran far ahead of last season. Just what effect gas rationing will have on the sport here cannot be written at this time, but there is no doubt, that the public enjoys racing more than ever before. To make Charles Towns "Victory Meeting" a complete success, a canvas of horsemen, jockeys and employes proves that they are willing to cooperate 100 per cent with the committee. Horsemen will take. 00 of all winning purses in Defense Bonds. Jockeys will be paid in War Stamps and Bonds in the difference between winning and regular fees. Employes will take a large slice of their wages in Stamps and Bonds. Albert J. Boyle, president of the Charles Town Jockey Club, has offered the grounds and all equipment absolutely free to the West Virginia Turf Fund Committee and all those actively engaged in the manage ment of the "Victory Meeting" will tender their services. The "Go" sign has been given and only the support of the public is needed to complete a generous contribution to Army and Navy Relief and State Charities.
