Seabiscuit and Kayak II. Foals Arriving on Coast First Five Youngsters by Howards Worlds Champion Were Colts WTTJ.TTS, Calif., May 19. Seabiscuit and Kayak II., Santa Anita Handicap winners and two of the horses that have contributed more to California racing in tha past few years than any others, will b well represented by offspring this season, V, Nine Seabiscuit foals arrived at Charles S; Howards Ridgewood Ranch, while two by Kayak H. had put in appearances. The first five youngsters by Seabiscuit were colts, then followed four fillies. Kay ak LI. sired a filly, then a colt. All but one, a Seabiscuit colt out of Jennie, Gal, arfi lU at present at Ridgewood. The other is at San Ysidro Stock Farm. The Seabiscuits are: a bay colt out ol the Sickle mare Carmanchita and thus t half brother of Yankee Dandy, a chest nut colt out of the good-looking imported Coronach mare Frivolous, a bay colt out 01 the Polymelian mare Illeanna, a chestnut colt out of Sag Rock, a bar filly out 61 -imported Flying Sands, by Sandwich, brown filly out of imported Catherine Glover, a Gainsborough mare, a chestnut filly out of Virginia LT., an imported mare, and a chestnut filly out of Star Singer, a mare by Caruso. Goldrim, an imported mare, has a darV bay filly by Kayak II. The latter also n sire of a boy colt out of Miss Yankee. Son o Battle, third of the Howard sires stand ing in northern California, has a bay filly out of DrizaIL, a mare from the Argen- - tine. Thirty-three foals will arrive at Ridgewood this year. Twenty-seven will be by Seabiscuit. The worlds champion money winner was bred to 32 mares last year. Seabiscuit will again get the majority of mares this season. Kayak LT. and Son o Battle will be mated with about a hall dozen each. Among the mares bred to Seabiscuit last year and still to foal are Smart Agnes, Dark Convent, Black Gnat, Coramine, Grey Nurse, Lady Riaf, all American-bred, and Jane Orpen, First Course, Buskin Heads I Win, Pusilla, Sonja LT., Ice Maiden and Fair Margaret, imported mares. The following mares were not bred last year but are ready for this season: Lib-erte HI., Printemps, Dessage, Sailor Miss, Galomar, Golden Araby, Sun Frolic, Dream land, Tradition, Lucille K. and Christilina. Ray Kane, who is in charge of the thor. oughbreds at Ridgewood, is high on tht Goldrim filly by Kayak LT. The little mis Is an exceptionally fine one, being excellently proportioned. All in all, this yearw crop is a fine one.
